The best way to identify retiree and retirement success stories is to look around among one's own circle of friends and acquaintances. With regard to success stories of people in one's circle of awareness, one does not have to look very far to find people who are much more fulfilled in retirement than they were in their careers and also people who have opened up new and lucrative sources of income.
There are normally many stories of retirement happiness and success right at hand. With regard to becoming wealthy, there is one famous national example that comes to mind: The founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC today) was 78 and for all practical purposes, at the end of his career. But he went from restaurant to restaurant trying to sell his coating recipe of herbs and spices and the rest is history.
To be a successful and happy retiree, there is a "formula" for success: the person must either have the financial means to retire or the skills and abilities to develop new and rewarding - both financially and personally - products and/or services; the person must have a passion for what she/he does, or it will quickly become drudgery. If income is not a requirement, the use of talents and skills for community service can bring great satisfaction. People moving into the retirement phase of life must absolutely recognize that while full leisure is great for awhile, boredom will enter in eventually. "Retirement" is really a dangerous word; regardless of age, people have much to offer to society, to benefit others and find great rewards for themselves.
