What Is a Baby Boomer?

A baby boomer is a person born between 1946 and 1964. Why do they use the term baby boomer? Well, they use it to show the boom in births after World War II. The people born in this time would be between 45 and 63-years-old and have a great impact on our economy. They make up the majority of our work force and there are 75 million of them.

The 60s defined the boomers, and depending on the age you were at the time, affected how you would turn out in the future. Those who were in their 20s by 1970 were impacted by the assassination of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., and even others that had died at the same time. Those born after 1959 have no recollection of these events. They would listen to different music and wouldn't be subjected to the draft.

In the 50s, many businesses focused on kid products. Gerber became popular in the 50s and there was also a great amount of toys. Disneyland is another company that took interest in kids. They not only have an impact on the economy but also our social life. Just think of all the boomers that we listen to on the radio or watch on TV, or even who run some of the biggest companies right now. They have a huge impact on our lives. They are even in politics and that is the biggest impact on our country.
