It is a sad fact that due to the recent downturn of the economy, many senior citizens can no longer rely upon their hard-earned retirement packages to see them through what many hoped would be relaxed golden years. So, where are these people finding the extra income needed to make ends meet? For many, working with eBay has become the answer.
eBay was once thought of as a place for the younger crowd to buy and sell. Well that is not the case anymore. The senior crowd can be found earning money on eBay just as readily as anyone else. In some ways, they have an advantage. The senior seller very often has a treasure trove of readily available items in their homes. These items maybe from collecting a particular theme such clowns over the years or just packing away various mementos in a garage or basement such as records.
When some seniors finally run out of this limited inventory supply, they join forces with friends and family selling other people's items and splitting the profits with an agreed upon commission rate such as 50/50 or a set amount of the final selling price.
Setting up the necessary account is relatively easy with clear directions found on the eBay site. Payment for transactions can be arranged via PayPal (also with an easily attained account) or through the mail using money orders or personal checks. As a general rule, all shipping and handling costs are paid by the buyer, so the final selling price, minus any fees from eBay and/or PayPal can become that extra money the senior seller is seeking.
